244. He is now eleven, and yet can do nothing but read,  and that very poorly.

 

244.   彼はもう十一になる、だのに読むことしか出來ない、而もそれすら甚（はなはだ）覚束（おぼつか）ないものだ。

 (a)  What with teaching,   and what with writing,  my time is fully taken up.

(b)  What by policy,  and what by force,   he always accomplishes his purpose.

 

(a)  教えるのやら、書くのやらで僕は少しも暇がない。
